Crochet Pattern: The Sparrow Beanie

Pattern difficulty: Intermediate/Difficult (Please do not attempt this pattern if you are a beginner. This pattern will be easier to those who are familiar with post crochet stitches, but image tutorials are included in the pattern so if you have not attempted a post stitch before, have no fear!)

Sizing: This pattern is written so that you can make your hat to any size. Pattern includes suggested average adult head measurements but you can create this to fit any size noggin (including kids!)

You will need:
Approx. 150-225 yards of worsted weight (4) or chunky (5) yarn. (I used about half a skein of Lion Brand Scarfie.)
Size H/5mm crochet hook (for the brim)
Size I/5.5mm crochet hook (for the main portion of the hat)
Scissors
Yarn needle
Tape measure
Stitch marker

Stitches to know:
Chain (ch)
Slip stitch (sl st)
Single crochet (sc)
Back loop single crochet (blsc)
Half double crochet (hdc)
Special stitches:Front post double treble (fpdtr) and Half double crochet Ridge (hdc ridge) (instructions for special stitches are included in the pattern).
