FAQ

What bases do you carry?

Click here to see our full list of yarn bases and examples of what each base looks like.

Where do you get your yarn?

All of our yarn suppliers ship from the US with their wool originating primarily from farms in Peru, Argentina, and Uruguay. None of our suppliers carry any wool from farms that practice muelsing, so you can be sure every skein is 100% muelsing-free.

When will my order ship?

Shipping timelines can be found in the product description of each item, with these timelines updating periodically as capacity changes.

In general, dyed-to-order yarn will ship in 2-3 weeks of order date. If placing an order with several different dyed-to-order colorways, this will impact turnaround time as each colorway will need to be dyed in batches.

Pre-orders will be shipped by the date indicated in the listing. If for any reason there are delays in shipping, I will contact you by email to keep you in the loop.

Wool + hand care products are made by hand in small batches and will ship in 5-7 business days.

Ready-to-ship items, such as notions, ready-to-ship yarn, stickers, etc. will ship within 2-3 days. If your order contains any items with a longer timeline, the order will not ship until all products are ready.

What is your return/exchange policy?

I want every customer to be happy with their purchase and will gladly accept returns to your original form of payment or in-store credit within 14 days of purchase.

To be eligible for return or exchange, items must be in their original packaging in new condition. Yarn that has been opened, cut, or unwound cannot be returned. The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs, and original shipping costs are non-refundable.

Orders can be cancelled within the first 2 hours of purchase, as long as your order has not yet shipped.

To submit your return:

To request a return, email hello@madebyhaileybailey.com with your order number and reason for return. Please do not mail your items until you receive an email response to confirm return eligibility.

How do I wash your yarn?

While many of our bases contain superwash merino wool (which can technically be machine washed) we recommend washing by hand in cool water with a specialty wool wash. This will help preserve the longevity of your handmade goods. Remove excess water by gently rolling in a towel and providing even pressure to soak up the excess. Never rub, wring, or twist your projects when wet, as it may cause felting. Always dry your handknits flat (hanging to dry can stretch out your work due to the weight).

All yarn is thoroughly washed and rinsed before it is sent to you. Due to the nature of the dyes used for yarn, particularly with dark or saturated colors, there is always a chance for slight color bleeding during the first couple of washes. Be sure to use cold water when hand washing and blocking your projects. If you are particularly concerned about color bleeding (such as when combining dark/saturated yarn with light yarn in a project) you may want to hand wash your yarn in cold water prior to use.

How do you make your wool + hand care products?

All of our wool + hand care products are made in-house using high quality, organic ingredients. Every item is measured and poured (and in the case of our WIP hand creme, whipped) by hand.

Are your wool + hand care products vegan?

Our WIP hand creme is completely vegan, made of only plant-based butters and extracts alongside our pthalate-free fragrance oil blends. Our wool wash and wool refresher spray contain lanolin, which is technically not vegan as it is derived from sheep's wool. We only source our lanolin from farms that treat their sheep like the precious baby angels they are! The lanolin is extracted from the wool after shearing, so no sheep are ever harmed in the production of this ingredient.
