Crochet Pattern: The Sheepestry Cardigan

Inspired by antique floral tapestries, a motif of bright blossoms surrounding a sweet sheep turns the back of this cardigan into a wearable work of art.

Poppy patch pockets serve double purpose: to bring a colorful accent to the front of this sweater, and to serve as a gauge swatch to help beginners practice tapestry crochet colorwork.

Skill level: Easy to Intermediate (simple stitches, but tapestry colorwork requires some practice due to using multiple colors at once. Tutorial on colorwork included in pattern).

      • 1,450 (1,700, 1,950, 2,200) yd / 1,325.9 (1,554.5, 1,783.1, 2,011.7) m in main color (plum)
      • 120 yd/109.7 m in contrast color 1 (olive)
      • 42 yd/38.4 m in contrast color 2 (orange)
      • 26 yd/23.8 m in contrast color 3 (yellow)

Oversized fit, 10-12" / 25.4-30.5 cm of positive ease

This pattern is written to be fully customizable to your own measurements, with additional instructions included to adjust the size of your garment.

Since my patterns are made-to-measure, you can customize the yarn weight and hook size used. If customizing, your work does not need to match gauge since you are working each piece to desired measurements, rather than relying on a specific stitch count. Feel free to experiment with hook sizes until you achieve your preferred fabric. If you plan to block your garment, plan for a slight increase in measurements after blocking.

Gauge:
24 sts x 28 rows = 6” square (blocked) in sc
